Reincarnated as a Housekeeper in a 19+ Gangster Romance Novel - Chapter 3

TLed by Mimo (Bedtime BL)

"This, this is fucking delicious."

Jeong Hwangyu's voice cut through my thoughts as I was absently spooning rice into my mouth. I glanced over to see him devouring the food with gusto, as if he hadn't just caused that ruckus moments ago. Seeing him like this gradually calmed my turbulent thoughts. After all, who wouldn't be pleased to see someone enjoying the food I prepared?

Thankfully, my cooking skills hadn't deteriorate. If I didn't became a gang boss, I might have ended up as a chef. It started as a hobby, but I even obtained a culinary certificate.

Born into a gangster family, I grew up in relative leisure and affluence, indulging in every whim during my youth. Cooking was one of those whims.

"You're eating well. Really eating well."

With that golden hair, you look just like a golden retriever when I see you like this.

Though your personalities are complete opposites.

I watched his swaying blonde hair for a moment before drifting back into my thoughts.

My Secret Romance with the Housekeeper was a 19+ novel centered around the female protagonist, the housemaid. In this story, Park Gyumin, an extra character, was an orphan. To earn money, he took the job as a housemaid for a gangster family that paid high hourly wages. Despite his timid and fearful nature, Park Gyumin clung fiercely to his position in the household, determined to survive. Then, a new housemaid arrived—the female protagonist herself.

The female protagonist...

The female lead was portrayed as a sunny, naive character. But beneath the surface, she was a cunning and manipulative girl, a fox in sheep's clothing. She acted like an ultra-positive person, someone who had grown up without a care in the world and assumed everyone else was just as optimistic as she was. In reality, she was extremely pragmatic, cold-hearted, and calculating. Her entry into this gangster family had been orchestrated by a rival gang, making her essentially a spy.

She had infiltrated the family with the intention of extracting information, seducing each of the brothers to her side. Every step of the process was both erotic and provocative, a story of physical seduction and carnal indulgence.

So that's why... Omega.

Her ability to seduce through physical means stemmed from the novel's slight fantasy element: the Omegaverse setting.

I only learned about it when I read this novel for the first time:

"Omegaverse."

In this world, there was another gender besides male and female: Alpha, Omega, and Beta. Simply put, Alphas were individuals who were either intellectually superior or physically stronger than ordinary people—literally, those who were exceptionally gifted. Conversely, Omegas were delicate, feminine-looking individuals who, despite being biologically male, could become pregnant.

Betas referred to ordinary men and women. The book explained that Alphas and Omegas could each emit pheromones so potent that they could drive each other into a frenzy, losing all reason and desperately craving each other. Moreover, both Alphas and Omegas experienced rut and heat cycles, respectively, during which they reportedly acted like beasts, completely consumed by their primal urges.

In this family, all the gangster brothers were Alphas. To prevent any scandalous incidents, they only hired Betas as servants. Therefore, Park Gyumin must also be a Beta. However, the female protagonist, who secretly infiltrated the household, concealed her Omega status. She naturally released pheromones, arousing the brothers and enticing them to attack her. The story revolved around her seducing them one by one through physical intimacy, ultimately making them her men.

The process had been quite thrilling to read. For context, the character I transmigrated into, Park Gyumin, was...

A tragic extra who, despite being a Beta, had fallen head over heels for the female protagonist's charms.

If Jeong Hwangyu sought me out instead of the female protagonist, it must mean she hasn't appeared yet.

So, the choices I have here are whether to intervene in the original story or not.

Not intervening would be easy: I could simply quit my job immediately. After all, every event in the original story is intertwined with the brothers of this household. But realistically, quitting right now is impossible. I still need to confirm if this world is identical to the one I came from, and even if I left this house immediately, I have nowhere to go, given my hazy memories of Park Gyumin. And who knows? Maybe if this novel reaches its conclusion, I might be able to return to my original world...

It's a slim chance, but it's a plausible hypothesis.

After all, the fact that I'm even inside this novel is already an absurdly unrealistic scenario. Who's to say my return won't be just as sudden and improbable?

Alright, let's just tough it out.

Since I already knew the original story, avoiding the female lead should minimize any interaction. Now that things had come to this, I might as well treat it like a chance to observe the original plot firsthand. If I could just relax and avoid getting killed at the end, I'd be fine.

I decided to stay positive.

"Ahem, that was a good meal. Keep cooking like this from now on," Jeong Hwangyu said, a satisfied smile spreading across his face. Just moments ago, he had been acting like a rabid dog. I nodded vaguely, put the dishes in the sink, and started washing them.

It's been a while since I've done dishes. As a housekeeper, I'll need to get used to this kind of work again.

Now then, what should I do next?

After drying my hands with a towel, I brushed past Jeong Hwangyu, who was still standing there awkwardly, and headed back to the room where I had first woken up. I planned to go there and slowly recall the book's contents.

What did the female lead actually do?

Aside from seducing the male leads, the female lead had essentially only helped Park Gyumin with his tasks.

Of course, "helping" was just a euphemism. Park Gyumin handled all the tedious work. The female lead was treated like a princess, constantly doted on by the male leads and even the extra, Park Gyumin.

"Hey, aren't you going to wake up Jeong Hwanyeong? He'll be late if he doesn't get up soon."

The voice from behind made me stop in my tracks. Who knew Jeong Hwangyu could actually be helpful sometimes?

He must have noticed something was off with me and decided to tell me. Jeong Hwanyeong was the fourth child in this family, essentially an extra like me. A rarely seen, mischievous 7 year old currently attending kindergarten. His parents had passed away early, and his three older siblings were all indifferent, leaving him without proper care and quite rebellious.

"Oh, thanks."

When I turned to thank him, Jeong Hwangyu flinched and pretended not to notice, looking away.

"...Oh, while I'm at it, let me ask one more question, where is Hwanyeong's room?"

"Agh! Damn it! You really need to see a doctor! There's something wrong with your head!"

I knew what I had to do, but unfortunately, I had no idea where Jeong Hwanyeong's room was.

Shamelessly asking for help again, Jeong Hwangyu, despite his foul temper, proved surprisingly useful. He grumbled and cursed the whole time, but eventually gave me directions, allowing me to safely find Jeong Hwanyeong's room.

----------------------

"This must be the place, right?"

The house was so vast that I had to rely on Jeong Hwangyu's instructions to find the room. At least it was on the first floor. The nearby staircase suggested there were more floors above.

If my memory served me correctly, it was probably a 3 story house...

Hmm, am I supposed to clean this whole place by myself?

With a house this size, they definitely needed another housekeeper.

Knock, knock, knock.

I knocked on Jeong Hwanyeong's door. No sound came from inside.

"I'm coming in."

Knowing he wouldn't answer, I opened the door and entered without waiting for a response.

As I entered the room, the drawn curtains initially revealed only vague shapes. But as my eyes adjusted to the dimness, objects began to emerge from the shadows.

Is that the kid?

On a bed large enough for three full-grown adults to sprawl comfortably, a child sat huddled under the covers. Despite the deeply furrowed brow, the round face and chubby cheeks made the little one utterly adorable.

"How cute," I murmured.

"......?"

"Ah, my mistake, Young Master. It's time for kindergarten."

I spoke, imitating Park Gyumin's speech pattern from the novel.

Though I had already spoken informally to Jeong Hwangyu, I decided to maintain a formal tone with Jeong Hwanyeong, given that it was our first meeting and he was still a young child. Children can easily become stressed by even minor changes in routine.

Jeong Hwanyeong glared at me with a sullen expression before getting up. He was already dressed in his kindergarten uniform, as if he had prepared in advance.

You're more obedient than I expected, aren't you?

The child, bag in hand, began walking ahead with an expressionless face, uncharacteristic of a child. I stared at his retreating figure for a moment before following behind.

"Oh, Young Master. You should eat first."

Jeong Hwanyeong shook his head.

"Hmm, if you insist."

Thank goodness. I hadn't prepared anything...

I was inwardly sighing in relief when I suddenly felt a sharp, piercing gaze. Turning my head, I saw Jeong Hwanyeong glaring at me.

Why is he doing that?

Jeong Hwanyeong's displeased gaze made me wonder if I had done something wrong. I was about to ask when he abruptly turned his head and strode ahead again.

"Hey, kid, you up?" Jeong Hwangyu, who was sitting on the sofa watching TV, called out to Jeong Hwanyeong. Ignoring him, Jeong Hwanyeong went to the front door, silently took out his shoes, and put them on.

"I've never seen such a rude little brat... What? What's wrong?"

I stared blankly at Jeong Hwangyu instead of Jeong Hwanyeong. Fortunately, Jeong Hwangyu seemed to sense the murderous intent hidden beneath my blank stare and clamped his mouth shut. If he'd uttered another word, I would have silenced his jabbering mouth with a punch. How dare he speak so rudely in front of a child?

Even I'm being careful...

"Oh? Let's go together, Young Master!"

Just then, Jeong Hwanyeong opened the door and stepped outside. I hurried after him. A black car was waiting at the entrance, and a tall, well-groomed man who appeared to be a bodyguard approached naturally and helped Jeong Hwanyeong into the vehicle.

I stared blankly at the scene. The man didn't even acknowledge my presence as he put Jeong Hwanyeong in the car and drove off immediately.

This scene...

I had a feeling I knew where this was going. When Park Gyumin introduced Jeong Hwanyeong to the female lead and explained how to send him to kindergarten, the two of them had abruptly left mid-explanation, just like this.

The kid's one thing, but that insolent bodyguard... He has no respect for his elders. I might need to give him a proper lesson later. I thought I'd mellowed out with age, but maybe it's because I've regressed back to my younger self that my old fiery temper keeps threatening to resurface.

Calm down. Calm down.

It suddenly struck me that I hadn't heard Jeong Hwanyeong's voice even once while bringing him here. Had he ever spoken in the book? I couldn't quite recall.

In the story, Jeong Hwanyeong was merely portrayed as a gloomy, twisted youngest brother who was quickly forgotten.

Even the female lead, preoccupied with the three older brothers, treated him as if he barely existed. Ah, there was one exception: the kidnapping episode!

Well, that's still a long way off.

Dismissing it as an irrelevant plot point, I returned to the house.
