Reincarnated as a Housekeeper in a 19+ Gangster Romance Novel - Chapter 6

TLed by Mimo (Bedtime BL)

"Give me food!"

"It's ready. Come out."

"...Oh, sausage stir-fry today."

It had been a week since I transmigrated into this body. The awkwardness of daily life has largely faded, replaced by a familiar routine. Each day was pretty much the same as the first.

After preparing Jeong Hwangyu's breakfast and grabbing a bite for myself, I'd send Jeong Hwanyeong off to kindergarten. The rest of the day was spent on household chores, and time flew by. Jeong Hwanyeong, the youngest, was remarkably self-sufficient for a 7 year old, making things incredibly easy. Jeong Hwangyu, the third son, had been a jabber mouth at first, but he seemed to have grown accustomed to me quickly. As long as I kept his meals on schedule, he remained relatively quiet—though his language remained rough, of course.

I watched Jeong Hwangyu devour his meal at an alarming speed before glancing upstairs.

Jeong Hwanseo's being quiet too.

Thankfully, I haven't encounter Jeong Hwanseo since that day. Whenever I sensed his presence, I immediately moved elsewhere. Avoiding him was easy enough; I simply relocated whenever I caught a whiff of his pheromones.

This was possible because Jeong Hwanseo didn't bother suppressing his pheromones at home, letting them waft freely through the air. He also seemed uninterested in the housekeeper, never seeking me out. It appeared he genuinely believed what happened during his heat cycle was just a dream, exactly as I'd hoped.

If that's the case, my plan worked.

Even if he suspected otherwise, he'd never suspect me.

He would never suspect that the housekeeper, whom he usually didn't even notice, had snuck into his room during his rut cycle and beaten him like a dog.

"That was delicious! Your cooking keeps getting better, you know? It's fucking amazing."

"I'm glad you enjoyed it. Need anything else?"

"Next time, make kimchi fried rice. With tons of meat."

"Sure, whatever."

Jeong Hwangyu finished his plate clean as usual and stood up. After seeing him off, I did the dishes and headed to Jeong Hwanyeong's room. Once I got him ready and sent him off, my morning duties would be complete.

I knocked and entered. Jeong Hwanyeong remained silent, glaring at me as I came in before wordlessly rising from his seat.

"Young Master, would you like breakfast?"

As always, he shook his head, his lips pressed tightly together.

I watched Jeong Hwanyeong. He was a bit smaller than his peers, his cheeks growing thinner. I wondered if he ate well at kindergarten, since he refused to eat anything at home.

I didn't bother with packing him separate meals, figuring he'd ask for food if he was hungry. But no matter how long I waited, he showed no sign of speaking up.

What if he collapses from malnutrition?

That would be a problem.

After watching the car drive off with
Jeong Hwanyeong, I returned home. I was certain the female lead had initially taken care of Jeong Hwanyeong's meals to gain the attention of his other brothers...

"Ah, that's right! Butternut squash porridge!"

It was the only dish Jeong Hwanyeong would eat. I hurried to the kitchen. As expected, everything else was stocked, but there was no butternut squash to be found. It looks like I'll have to go grocery shopping...

The kitchen supplier arrived at dawn, only once every three days, and only to replenish the empty ingredients. Since they already came three days ago, it meant another three days would pass before they returned.

Should I just slip out for a bit now?

I realized I hadn't stepped outside even once since entering this book. Of course, I had taken Jeong Hwanyeong out briefly a few times, but those were just fleeting moments.

Now might be a good time to go out. Having made up my mind, I went to my room, grabbed my wallet and coat, and headed straight for the front door.

My first outing...

I felt a little excited.

The house was so vast that I hadn't even noticed how stifling it was, but the thought of finally stepping outside made my heart race. I opened the front door and stepped out into the warm sunlight, which felt wonderful. I walked along the well-maintained sidewalk leading from the main gate.

The gentle spring sunshine lifted my spirits. I briefly regretted not coming out sooner. Just then, a loud, cloying voice caught my attention. I turned my head and froze.

"Honey, try this. Aah~!"

"Mmm, delicious."

"Delicious, right? Give me a bite of your ice cream too. Aah~."

The cooing voices of couples drifted through the air. The problem was that these were male-male couples.

Come to think of it, it wasn't just male-male couples around. Looking around, I noticed female-female couples as well.

I'd read that in the Omegaverse world, Alphas and Omegas formed pairs regardless of gender, but seeing it in person was still a bit... no, very disorienting.

It's going to take a while to get used to this...

I hurried past them, pretending not to notice. Even though this was a fictional world, the author really had no biases.

Oh, right. Where would the supermarket be?

Ah, there it is.

Fortunately, as soon as I left the residential area, I spotted a large supermarket and a bustling commercial district.

While exploring the area, I noticed an elderly woman selling butternut squash on the street and bought one from her. It looked fresh and appealing, and street-vended produce always tastes better anyway. This meant I wouldn't need to go to the supermarket after all.

Thinking there might be other things I need, I continued wandering around. Whenever I spotted a tempting snack, I bought one. Before I knew it, my hands were full of groceries.

Hmm, I've finished shopping. Time to head back.

Just as I was about to turn around, unable to carry any more, a commotion erupted nearby.

"You little bastard! Is that all you've got to say?"

"What? Did I hit a nerve? Truth hurts, huh?"

"You son of a bitch!"

The men, dressed in flashy shirts, had menacing faces and puffed out their chests as if showing off their bulk. Judging by their demeanor and glares, it was obvious: these guys weren't ordinary people—they were gangsters. Gangsters recognize their own kind.

I was about to leave, not wanting to get involved, but my feet wouldn't move. The familiar voice of someone shouting defiantly while surrounded by five or so gangsters caught my attention.

Surely not...

A sense of unease settled over me.

"Come with us, you little punk! You're too cocky! We'll teach you a lesson you won't forget!"

"Ha! Who do you think you're scaring?"

Ah, just as I thought...

Among the hulking figures, his yellow hair stood out. It was Jeong Hwangyu. Why was he here, surrounded by gangsters?

Watching him confidently shout, surrounded by men much larger than himself, without a hint of fear, he couldn't help but feel incredulous.

He seems so confident. Maybe he doesn't need my help after all?

Jeong Hwangyu might not be the main character, but he was definitely a leading man, and an Alpha at that. There was no way he could lose to these petty thugs... right?

Still, he couldn't help but feel a nagging concern, perhaps out of the camaraderie they shared from eating together. Just then, he noticed a woman standing frozen in fear where the gangsters and Jeong Hwangyu had passed. She seemed to be the root of the problem—a delicate-looking woman with pretty features.

"Are you alright?"

"Y-yes... I'm fine. But... because of me, he..."

A citizen approached a trembling woman and spoke to her. The woman answered his questions, her voice trembling with fear. According to her, she was an Omega who was out on urgent business during her heat cycle, relying solely on suppressants. She had been captured by Alpha gangsters, and Jeong Hwangyu came to her rescue.

The citizen, at a loss for what to do, comforted the woman, who was deeply worried about Jeong Hwangyu, and said he would call the police. How quickly would they arrive? I sighed deeply and started walking in the direction Jeong Hwangyu had been dragged.

I was just going to leave, but that kid actually did something commendable.

I thought he was a lost cause, but he seems decent enough. It probably isn't too dangerous, but...

Just in case, I should keep an eye on things. It looks like my outing today will be longer than expected. I quietly followed the gangsters and Jeong Hwangyu to their destination.

"Ha, those dirty bastards..."

Jeong Hwangyu had skipped university to visit a PC cafe in the bustling downtown area, something he hadn't done in ages. As he walked down the street, a peculiar scent caught his attention—a strange fragrance emanating from a woman. As an Alpha, Jeong Hwangyu instinctively recognized it.

That woman is in heat.

Wandering around in heat? Is she out of her mind?

He watched her, wondering if she was alright. As expected, the gangsters smoking outside the club spotted her, exchanged sinister grins, and began following her.

His older brother had warned him not to cause trouble, but he couldn't stand by and let those thugs bring shame upon all men. He had to intervene.

"What's with all these guys?"

The place they'd brought Jeong Hwangyu to was like a vast junkyard. More than ten gangsters were sitting around, smoking cigarettes, clearly using the place as their hideout. A quick glance confirmed they knew each other, bringing the total to fifteen.

Damn it, I should have finished this back there...

Even though he'd been fighting since childhood, this was too much. His damned arrogance had ruined everything.

"How's it feel now? Getting scared, you cocky bastard?"

A particularly ugly gangster sneered at him.

...Even if I can't kill them all, I'll definitely kill you. I will!

"Ha! Who's scared? You're the one who's scared. You brought your whole gang because you're too afraid to face me one-on-one. You're the one who's scared, aren't you?"

"You little bastard!"

The moment he provoked them, the crude gangster lunged at him. Jeong Hwan-gyu punched the charging thug in the solar plexus, then kicked his ugly face away.

"You little punk!"

As if on cue, the other gangsters swarmed him. Jeong Hwangyu bared his teeth like a rabid dog and roared, "Yeah, you fuckers! Let's see who dies first! I'm taking at least one of you with me! You bastards!"
